A Coruña, Spain
Located on the Atlantic coast of Galicia, A Coruña is a vibrant seaside city known for its rich history, stunning waterfront, and lively cultural scene. Its most iconic landmark is the Tower of Hercules, the world’s oldest Roman lighthouse still in use and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city features beautiful urban beaches, scenic promenades, and the famous Paseo Marítimo, one of Europe’s longest coastal walkways.
A Coruña combines tradition and modernity: charming Old Town streets, excellent museums, and a dynamic gastronomic scene offering fresh seafood and Galician specialties. With its welcoming atmosphere and mild climate, the city provides an ideal setting for both leisure and academic events.
A Coruña is easy to reach by air, train, road, bus, or sea.
By Air
Alvedro Airport is just 15 minutes from the city centre, with flights to major Spanish cities as well as London, Geneva and Milan. Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport is 45 minutes away and offers a wide range of national and international connections. Both airports have bus and taxi links to the city.
By Train
San Cristóbal Station connects A Coruña with Madrid (including high-speed services) and with nearby cities such as Santiago, Vigo, Pontevedra and Lugo. The station is well linked to the city centre by bus, taxi or a 30-minute walk.
By Car
A Coruña is connected via major routes: AP-9 (from Portugal through Galicia), A-6 (from Madrid), and the Autovía del Cantábrico (from northern Spain). Once in the city, parking and exploring on foot or by public transport is recommended.
By Bus
Companies such as Alsa, FlixBus, Arriva and Monbus operate national, international and regional routes. Services arrive at the city’s bus station, a short trip from the centre by taxi, car or local bus.
