Instructions for speakers

Presently the Journal Club Organiser is Malcolm Druett.

Speakers should send an email to the Journal Club Organiser with

(1) the presentation title,

(2) links to relevant papers,

(3) and whether the presentation to be recorded or not.

This should be done in the week before your presentation, the earlier the better, but at latest on the Friday.

The Journal Club Meetings last for 30 minutes, allow 5 minutes for overheads (arriving and leaving). The remaining 25 can be divided between presentation and discussion in the way that is most useful to you.

If you wish your slides/presentation to be accessible from this site, send them (or a link to them) in an email to the Journal Club Organiser.

Remember, if you wish them to be accessible to people only from the University etc, you can store your slides in google drive and limit the access rights.

Changing your date

If you wish to alter your position in the rota, please find one of the other speakers to switch with.

Then send an email stating this to the Journal Club Organiser and the person who agreed to switch.

What to present?

Your presentation can be

(1) your paper,

(2) a paper you find interesting, challenging, or important,

(3) a discussion of a topic or technique,

(4) a miniature workshop, e.g. accessing a code or a data source and analysing the output.

The session should to be useful to you, so if you have something different you wish to do, send an email to the Journal Club Organiser to discuss this.
